As lawmakers in Washington struggle with wide sweeping budget cuts, it appears that the defense sector, once considered a sacred cow, is preparing for significant trimming. While that may be true for many companies, B. Riley’s defense analyst says certain slices of the sector, particularly those companies focused on intelligence and cybersecurity, are actually poised for growth.
To provide investor clients with timely and actionable information on possible winners, B. Riley is hosting its First Annual Defense & Cybersecurity Conference September 20, 2011 at Shutters on the Beach in Santa Monica featuring presentations from 11 public companies.

Riley analyst Mike Crawford, who writes: "In a federal budgetary environment constrained by the need for fiscal austerity, we believe investors need to discern what pockets of defense, aerospace, and intelligence spending will be required for the U.S. to remain secure.
