Joining B. Riley’s Corporate Finance Group in Los Angeles are:
Steven Canup
Mr. Canup joins as a Managing Director covering the financial services industry. He has over 20 years experience in the financial services sector, working as both an advisor to and an executive in banks and non-depository financial institutions. Mr. Canup comes to B. Riley from FIG Partners where he was a Senior Vice President. Earlier, he worked at Oppenheimer & Co., NatWest Markets, and Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette. He has worked on a broad range of transactions, including public and private equity raises, high yield debt placements and M&A assignments. Mr. Canup also worked at EastWest Bancorp where he was responsible for capital market relations and issuances, mergers and acquisitions and other strategic operations and was a member of the Senior Management Committee, and headed product development efforts. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from the University of California Los Angeles.
Robert Mandra
Mr. Mandra joins as a Managing Director and will be focused on the technology and communications hardware sector with special emphasis on optical technologies. He brings to B. Riley over 25 years of finance and technology industry experience, having held investment banking positions with firms such as SoundView Technology Group, Morgan Joseph and Greenwich Technology Advisors. Mr. Mandra has completed over $24 billion in equity raises and M&A transactions with firms such as JDS Uniphase Corp., Finisar, Bookham Technology, EXFO, Inc., Newport Corp., Burleigh Instruments, Moxtek and Ocean Optics. Prior to becoming an investment banker Mr. Mandra was a research and development engineer at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. He earned BS and MS degrees in Optical Engineering from the University of Rochester Institute Of Optics and an MBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business.

Laura McGuigan, CFA
Ms. McGuigan joins as a Senior Research Analyst covering the medical technology sector. Prior to joining B. Riley, Ms. McGuigan was a Principal, Senior Analyst at Transamerica Investment Management where she focused on the healthcare sector. Earlier in her career at Transamerica, she held the title of Principal, Director of Equity Trading. Prior to Transamerica, Ms. McGuigan was a partner at Westcap LLC, where she was Head of Equity Trading. Ms. McGuigan earned a Bachelor of Arts, with Honours, in Business Studies at the University of Central England in Birmingham, England.
Chris Armbruster, CFA
Mr. Armbruster joins as an Associate Research Analyst. Mr. Armbruster was formerly the Vice President of Research at Al Frank Asset Management, where he led equity analysis efforts across all industries for five years. Past experience also includes fixed income trading at Payden & Rygel and financial consulting for Arthur Andersen and Fulcrum Financial Inquiry. Mr. Armbruster earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics with a minor in Accounting from the University of California Los Angeles.
