Fast Food Deals Combat Winter Sales Slump

Famous chains are rolling out cheap eats

Fast food restaurants are rolling out new deals and bringing back previous popular offers. They're hoping they can boost sales during the slower winter months.

To combat the usual slump in winter sales, fast food chains are serving up cheap eats to kick off the new year.

Low prices and bundled meal deals are likely an effort to lure in families who cannot afford to visit a casual dining restaurant.

"When you have a family it adds up," one customer said.

From 99 cent burritos to $10 pizzas, famous chains are offering options to please a palette and a pocket book. But while the deals may benefit the bottom line, they won’t be so friendly to the waistline.

Still, customers are seeking refuge from continuously rising food prices.

"It’s good, especially for these economic times, it’s good to get some deals," another customer said.

Analysts said that while these deals emerge every January, this year’s saving may be a little less significant thanks to higher commodity prices.

"You're going to probably see better offers with bundles such as this going forward, trying to lure families to such quick service restaurants and really get those families who can't afford a casual dining occasion to come to a quick service restaurant." - Conrad Lyon (00:25 - 00:38)

"They’re going to be much more[…] judicious with layering on higher price increases to really offset the bottom line, and for that matter, what they may lose in traffic."   - Conrad Lyon (00:53 - 1:05)
